Beach Volunteer Fire Dept. Fundraiser

Posted

The Beach Volunteer Fire Department held their annual pork and chicken fundraiser on Oct. 18 at the Beach Fire Hall. Many friends and families were seen gathered in the fire hall enjoying their meal, prepared by the volunteers who help keep the city safe.
The meal served consisted of baked chicken, pulled pork, potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans and many sweet desserts.
According to Fire Chief Dan Buchholz, about 330 people were served. As of Oct. 27, the fire department doesn’t yet know the total amount of funds that were raised, but many people did give their thanks to the dedicated group of men. Helping the fire department with the purchase of the pork was Bob Schmeling.
Last year’s chicken and pork fundraiser saw an approximate $21,000 collected during the afternoon lunch from the free-will offering and the gun raffle. This year, there wasn’t a raffle, but it was still a good time.
The fire department was first established in 1912 and has been a volunteer based fire department ever since. There are 30 volunteers in total. Funds raised often goes toward new equipment.
Last year, the department was awarded a $7,500 community grant by the Golden Valley County Community Foundation that allowed Fire Chief Buchholz to purchase new air tanks for the volunteers. Read more about that in the October 9, 2025 issue of Golden Valley News.
Fire Chief Buchholz emphasized his appreciation for the community members who came out to support the fire department, sharing, “[I’d] like to let people know we really do appreciate the support this community has for us. It is really great!”
If anyone is interested in joining the fire department, they are encouraged to contact Fire Chief Buchholz at 701-872-6662.
