The excitement of Homecoming Week is beginning to build at Hettinger Public School as students prepare to celebrate “Now Boarding: Homecoming 2026.” The week will feature school spirit, class competitions, dress-up days and plenty of opportunities for students and the community to get involved.
Leading the way into this year’s celebration are the six students selected to the 2026 Homecoming Court. The candidates for king are Owen Praus, Judah Kilzer and Dylan Nash. The candidates for queen are Elle Burns, Callie Timm and Addison Schmitz.
The homecoming court will be recognized during the annual homecoming coronation on Monday, October 5, where one king and queen will be crowned. The ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Hettinger High School Big Gym, doors will open at 6:00 p.m.
This year’s travel-themed celebration will take students on a journey around the world, with each class representing a different vacation destination throughout the week. The theme, “Now Boarding: Homecoming 2026,” will bring a fun travel twist to the traditional homecoming festivities.
Following the coronation, students and community members can continue the celebration as homecoming week officially gets underway.
The public is invited to attend the coronation and show their support for this year’s homecoming court and the Hettinger Night Hawks.
