Auxiliary officers are pictured with Bob Courtway, known as “Library Bob”. Bob oversees the loaning out of hospital equipment at the library. The Auxiliary thanked Bob for being at the library most every week day from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. by surprising him with this luxurious office chair. Bob is more than happy to show you where the Auxiliary’s hospital equipment is in the basement of the library and help sign out the equipment. There is no charge for use of our hospital equipment and you can keep it as long as necessary. Some of the equipment offered include crutches, walkers, commodes, canes, toilet risers, tub stools, wheelchairs, and hospital bed. If there is anything you would like us to purchase for the loan closet, please let us know. You may contact Bob at the library at 584-2181 with questions.

Dakota Hill has been the Auxiliary’s Community Project for many years. The Auxiliary supplies three things for the Dakota Hill residents every year. A subscription to the Grant County newspaper placed at the facility for all to use, a rose given to every resident on their birthday, and a present is given in March or April every year. Pictured is part-time Activity Director Jacque Bauer and Care Aide Larry Winkler accepting bingo prizes. Sande Volk also works as Activity Director.

Elgin American Legion Auxiliary report

The American Legion Auxiliary business year goes from April to April, so we would like to report on the projects the Auxiliary worked on this year. We sponsored Madison Zimmerman to attend Girl’s State. We judged poppy posters submitted by the grade school and distributed poppies on the Saturday before Memorial Day. Axel Schock was our poppy boy. After the Memorial Day program, we hosted a community potluck. We helped sponsor a volleyball game and basketball game at the school with Dollars for Scholars. President Holly organized a picnic meal for the National Guard meeting held in Mandan. President Holly nominated 40-50 names for Quilts of Valor. We helped a local veteran who had his leg amputated get an outdoor ramp and indoor handrails put up. We organized the Turkey Shoot meal and games. We supplied the Grant County News, birthday flowers and bingo prizes for Dakota Hill. We supplied pies for the Lions Hamburgers in the Park. We oversee the Loan Closet’s hospital equipment and got two new chairs for the library. We supply cookies and juice for all the Lions Blood Drives in town.

Public Meeting to be held for grain bins in city limits

Carson City Council members as well as Planning and Zoning Board members were presented with a unique building request at Monday evening’s regular city council meeting. Two local farmers are seeking to place grain bins within city limits to access power needed to run the equipment, such as dryers, for the grain bins. Three phase AC is not accessible through Mor-Gran-Sou but is attainable within the city of Carson through Montana Dakota Utilities.
